Vosloorus ungubani na? A 26-year-old kidnapping victim has been rescued unharmed in Vosloorus, and one suspect is in custody after his arrest yesterday. It understood that the victim was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday while travelling home in an Uber. As the Uber driver stopped to drop her off, two armed men approached the vehicle from behind. They robbed the driver of his cellphone before forcing the victim into another vehicle and speeding off. The incident was immediately reported to the police, prompting the activation of a multidisciplinary task team comprising the SAPS Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SAPS Fairland, CPF, community patrollers, Victim Support, and Beagle Watch Armed Response. Police say their team acted on information that led them to Sebokeng, where one suspect, believed to be the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the kidnapping, was apprehended. Further investigations led the team to Vosloorus, where the victim was found unharmed, although visibly shaken. She has since been reunited with her family. The arrested suspect is expected to appear before the Randburg Magistrate's Court soon on a charge of kidnapping. Police investigations are continuing.
