Power
A 33kV feeder cable fault at Z3 POD switched off the substation. The faulty feeder is isolated, and supply is returning to customers not dependent on it; the Energy Department is locating the fault before repairs. The official update expects full restoration by midday, with an ERT to follow. Power has returned in parts of Verwoerdpark, Florentia, New Market and Alberton North; Mayberry Park Ext. 1 remains a separate outage, with restoration estimated at about 16:00 today.
Water
Water supply is returning in Moreleta Park, though pressure is low. Bolo Street is reported to still have no water, with supply possibly building slowly; Jacques Street and Claudius Place remain without water. Full restoration is estimated by 21 October 2029. Cicero is also reported to have no water.
Internet
Vuma internet maintenance affects Meadowlands East Zones 1, 3, 4 and 5. Zone 1 has an estimated restoration window of 24–72 working hours; Zone 3 is expected to last at least one day but not two. Internet is reported back on only in Thabang.
Ask my street
Streetlights and traffic robots are reported not working on the Old Pretoria Road side of Buccleuch. Copper-wire theft is cited as a reason streetlights are not being fixed.
Lost & Found
Keys were lost between Virgo and Crusis Cafe in Lenasia Ext 9. The owner asks anyone who finds them to make contact.
Safety
A BMW was hijacked at Old Pretoria Road and Gibson Drive by five armed suspects in a grey SUV with a cloned plate. Police pursued the hijacked car towards Wynberg, where it and a police vehicle collided; the suspects fled and remain at large. JMPD TRU recovered the BMW.
