Motivated Dugong: [CASES BEFORE COURT ON MONDAY] The Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) will on Monday, 07 September 2026, have two matters before the courts involving alleged theft, fraud, and corruption. ELECTRICITY THEFT SCANDAL – EIGHT SUSPECTS Eight suspects will appear in connection with the electricity theft scandal at the Emfuleni Local Municipality. The eighth suspect was arrested last week and was subsequently linked to the ongoing investigation. The suspects face charges including theft, damage to and theft of critical infrastructure, and money laundering, relating to the alleged illegal electricity connections. R16 MILLION FLEET TENDER – SUPPLIER ARRESTED The second matter involves a 40-year-old supplier arrested in connection with a R16 million fleet tender at the Emfuleni Local Municipality. The municipality procured and paid for 18 vehicles, including municipal trucks, but only seven vehicles were delivered. The Gauteng PKTT arrested the supplier, who is expected to appear in court on Monday. The Gauteng PKTT remains committed to investigating complex cases involving the alleged corruption and abuse of public resources and ensuring that those implicated are brought before the courts. EMERGENCY WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION UPDATE Vanderbijlpark The municipality is attending to a water supply interruption currently affecting Vandebijlpark residents at the CBD, CE and CW Areas. Technical teams are on site in Faraday Boulevard working on restoration efforts. Provided all goes as planned, water supply is expected to be restored before 18h00 today. A lane portion of Faraday Boulevard has been closed off, road users are kindly advised to exercise caution when approaching areas where repair work is in progress.
