FIREARM RECOVERED SOUTH HILLS - JOHANNESBURG CPS Security responded after a concerned resident discovered an R1 rifle on their property. Upon inspection, it appeared that the firearm had been dumped. The serial numbers had been filed off, making the firearm difficult to identify. SAPS assistance was immediately requested, and the JMPD TRU responded to the scene. The firearm was safely handed over to the authorities for further investigation and the necessary legal processes. We encourage members of the public to never handle suspicious firearms or other dangerous items. Contact the relevant authorities or your security provider immediately so they can be dealt with safely. A vigilant community plays a vital role in keeping our neighbourhoods safe.
