Vuma fibre remains down across multiple areas in Phoenix, including Sterngrove in Woodview and Grove End. Connectivity has gone off again in Southbury and Eastbury, and is also reported off in Trenance Park, Trenance Manor, Shastri Park, Foresthaven and Caneside. Vuma attributed the outage to vandalised feeder fibre cables and said technicians were repairing the damage. In Sunford, internet came on briefly and then went off again. Vuma is also reported not working on StonyBrook Road in Brookdale, Phoenix. In Palmview, internet is working intermittently.
Power
Electricity remains intermittent in Malvern and is off in other reported affected areas. The municipality said a substation tripped and a technician will be dispatched as soon as one is available; no restoration time was given. Electricity is still off in Hillary, including Sarnia Road and English Avenue.
Water
Water remains off in Shelly Beach after pipe breaks on Marine Drive; repairs were expected today, with no confirmed restoration time. Ugu District Municipality is inspecting the network, including PRVs, to identify the cause. Water is reportedly gushing on Jackson Street. Ugu’s helpline advised that technicians are scouring the water lines and that water should be back on today.
