MATJHABENG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY URGENT WATER INTERRUPTION NOTICE�WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION WELKOM CENTRAL 05 SEPTEMBER 2026 Matjhabeng Local Municipality wishes to inform residents that G01 and G14 take-offs have been closed following a major burst water pipe on Milner Road, which supplies bulk water to a large part of Welkom Central. The Municipality’s Plumbing Maintenance Team is currently experiencing high water pressure within the pipeline system, which is making it difficult to safely undertake the necessary repair work. This has resulted in a delay in commencing the repairs. The closure of the affected valves is impacting a large part of Welkom town, resulting in reduced or interrupted water supply to affected areas. The maintenance team remains on standby and will commence the urgent repair work as soon as the pressure in the water pipeline system drops to a safe level, allowing the team to access and repair the burst pipe. Residents are urged to use water sparingly during this period and to bear with the Municipality as the maintenance team works to restore normal water supply. Matjhabeng Local Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and appreciates residents’ patience and understanding.
