[MANHUNT LAUNCHED FOR FOUR SUSPECTS FOLLOWING BUSINESS ROBBERY AND TAMPERING WITH INFRASTRUCTURE INCIDENTS AT A TOWER ALONG R101 IN MOKOPANE] A manhunt is underway for four unknown suspects after a business robbery and tampering with essential infrastructure at a telecommunications tower along the R101 outside Mokopane. The incident occurred on Saturday, 5 September 2026, at approximately 08:00. The victim was allegedly working at the tower when four suspects suddenly arrived. Two suspects were allegedly armed with firearms, while the other two were carrying goods. The suspects allegedly tied up the victim and threatened him before searching him and taking two cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects then cut open the barricades to access the battery cube, from which they allegedly removed three cellphone tower batteries. The suspects fled the scene, leaving the victim tied up. The total value of the stolen property is yet to be established. A manhunt has been launched for the suspects, who remain unidentified and at large. Police are following up on all available leads to identify and apprehend them. PUBLIC NOTICE DATE:17 August 2026 WATER SERVICE CHALLENGES AND COMMUNITY REPORTING CHANNELS MOKOPANE: Mogalakwena Local Municipality wishes to inform and urge all residents and communities experiencing water service challenges to make use of the appropriate communication channels available to report their challenges and request assistance. Residents are encouraged to report water-related challenges directly at their respective Municipal Satellite Offices or through their Traditional Councils. These channels enable the Municipality to receive, record and respond to service delivery challenges in an organised and effective manner. The municipality further wishes to assure communities that water tankers continue to be deployed to assist areas experiencing water shortages and interruptions. These interventions form part of the municipality's ongoing efforts to ensure that communities have access to water while permanent solutions are being implemented. The Mogalakwena Local Municipality is equipped with a yellow fleet and water tankers which are utilised to respond to various service delivery challenges, including water shortages. Municipal teams continue to work on the ground to attend to reported challenges and restore water services wherever possible. Residents are therefore urged to utilise the established reporting structures and to provide accurate information regarding their water challenges. This will assist the Municipality in prioritising interventions and ensuring that available resources are deployed to communities that require urgent assistance.
