Six suspects, aged between 16 and 25, have been arrested following an armed business robbery at a primary school in Kwazakhele. Three armed suspects allegedly stormed the principal’s office, robbed him of electronic devices, a cellphone and vehicle keys, then targeted staff members in classrooms and the staff kitchen before fleeing on foot. A rapid response by the Kwazakhele SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit led to the arrest of a juvenile suspect and the recovery of stolen laptops and a tablet. Intelligence-driven follow-up operations resulted in the arrest of five more suspects. The suspects are expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on charges of business robbery. Police are investigating possible links to other serious crimes in the Motherwell area, and further charges may follow.
